You can call DATA packers & Movers Ltd.., at least 1-2 weeks prior to the move. This way we can plan your move better to make it a smooth one.
How long will the pre-move survey last?

What is the purpose of a survey?
We conduct a pre-move survey for the following reasons To Inspect your goods, Understand your needs, Identify delicate & valuable articles, Take measurements to calculate the volume of the goods, Assess manpower and materials requirements, Check facilities for loading, parking, movement of vehicles, etc. During the survey DATA packers & Movers Ltd.., will also explain the moving process, clear your apprehensions, advise you appropriate means of transport, schedule dates for packing & moving and most importantly help you plan your move more effectively
How should I prepare myself for the pre-move survey?
Identify, the goods in your house and decide the articles you intend carrying, storing, donating, leaving behind etc.
Show all the items you intend carrying to the surveyor. This helps us in making a better and more accurate estimate.
Let us know about your special needs or areas of concern.
Ask as many questions and clear all your doubts, however simple they may be.
Make sure you give the same brief to all the moving companies surveying your goods
Will all my goods be crated?
Generally, only electronic goods, fragile items, glass / mirrors need to be crated. However, if you choose we can crate all the items you want.
Will you give us some cartons so that we can sort out our goods?
Yes, you can call us & we can deliver as many cartons as you want prior to the move.
Can I also pack my goods myself?
You can do this, if you are a good at it. However, please be aware of the potential problems. For instance, insurance companies will not pay out on goods packed by their owner. If you really must pack some of your goods, leave the cartons unsealed so that the DATA packers & Movers Ltd.. packing crew can inspect the contents, seal the cartons and make a note in the inventory.
How long will the packing take?
Every home is different but for a normal truck load of household effects (750 CFT) takes between three and five hours for packing. This is based on a crew of three or four persons. If timing is important, let us know about your requirements and DATA packers & Movers Ltd. will coordinate the move accordingly.
What are the items that I can take and can’t take with me?
Generally speaking, you can take most of the personal stuff like furniture, clothes, books, curios, utensils, electronic goods etc. However, all flammable items, liquids, perishable foods and other items that can deteriorate should not be moved.
Do I need insurance?
We at DATA packers & Movers Ltd. use quality packing materials and experienced crews to pack your goods. But this journey may be covering long distances and through very bad roads. So, Insurance is definitely a must and is really a bargain.
What kind of insurance should I go in for?
There are different kinds of insurance packages available like Transit risk coverage or Comprehensive coverage. DATA packers & Movers Ltd. can give you additional information if required.
How do I value my goods for insurance?
In general, you should think about what it would cost to replace your goods. When completing your insurance value, please be as detailed as possible. Remember to mark down all individual items that have a high replacement cost. It’s better to have too much information than not enough in this instance. What type of vehicles will be used to move my goods?

Will somebody accompany the vehicle in Transit?
Yes, if required, one of the packers will accompany your goods to destination. This person is known as an escort. An escort is useful because the packer who packed your goods at origin will be there to assist you at destination.
Will my goods be unpacked at destination?
Yes, we will assist you in unloading, unpacking, removal of debris and setting up of your home.
Will DATA packers & Movers Ltd. assist in dismantling all my complicated furniture & electrical fixtures?
Yes, we provide handy man value added services for professional carpentry, electrical & plumbing services.
Do I have to pay any interstate taxes?
Generally, there are no Interstate taxes for used & old personal effects. However, in certain cities like Bombay there are interstate taxes – which are generally very nominal. But for automobiles these taxes are much higher.
What are the documents required to move my personal effects?
To move your personal effects, we require a Packing list, Declaration for checkpost purposes and destination delivery address. If you are moving an automobile, we require copies of Registration documents, Insurance documents, Tax paid receipts & Emission certificate.
Can I move my car?
Yes, we can move your car either in exclusive vehicles or co-loaded with other cars in Car Moving vehicles, depending upon your time & budget constraints. Irrespective of how the car is moved.
What happens to my goods once they are packed and moved from my residence?
All goods are moved directly from door to door without any transhipment. However, for small volume or part loads – the goods will be moved to our warehouse and clubbed with other goods before dispatch. At destination the goods will be moved to our warehouse and final delivery is done using local vehicles.
